New funding boosts Maine Center for Business and Economic Research
PORTLAND, Maine — Thanks to a new grant, the Maine Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Southern Maine in Portland is expanding its efforts to spur innovation and economic growth in the state. The $100,000 grant was awarded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration.
“The Maine Center for Business and Economic Research works to strengthen existing regional economic development initiatives and stimulate economic opportunity in the state of Maine,” Senators Susan Collins and Angus King said in a joint statement. “This funding will provide an important catalyst for innovation, and build upon ongoing economic development efforts at the University of Southern Maine to support Maine’s private and public sector organizations.”
The EDA’s University Center program is a competitive partnership with academic institutions that makes university resources and technical expertise available to regional economic development initiatives.
