Portland area among America’s best cities to start a business
PORTLAND — According to a new study by personal finance website NerdWallet.com, the Portland, South Portland and Biddeford areas are among the nation’s best cities to start a business. The area, which was cited as “a small community with a big culinary culture,” was ranked at No. 5 in the study.
NerdWallet ranked 183 metropolitan areas with populations over 250,000 and more than 15,000 business. The rankings were based on average business revenue, median income and unemployment.
Overall, Boulder, Colorado took the top spot, followed by Wilmington, North Carolina, Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, Connecticut and Evansville Indian ahead of the Portland metro in the top five.
