Huhtamaki named the 2014 Maine MEP Manufacturer of the Year
WATERVILLE, Maine — Waterville-based consumer goods packaging and food service product maker Huhtamaki has been honored as the 2014 Maine MEP Manufacturer of the Year. The company was honored by Gov. Paul R. LePage and the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) for its commitment innovation, diversification, workforce investments, and lean manufacturing.
“I congratulate Huhtamaki for its continued outstanding performance,” said Gov. Paul R. LePage. “Manufacturing is alive and well in Maine and Huhtamaki is a great example of how good-paying careers can be sustained for generations.”
The LePage Administration is committed to partnering with companies like Huhtamaki to provide the resources, training and supportive business environment essential for growth. DECD proudly sponsors the Maine MEP Manufacturer of the Year award.
“We’re pleased that Maine MEP is a program of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development,” said DECD Commissioner George Gervais. “Through this partnership hundreds of Maine manufacturers have had access to expertise in lean manufacturing, engineering, plant layouts, workforce training, and other services.”
