Portsmouth Naval Shipyard hiring a boatload in Kittery
KITTERY, Maine — Portsmouth Naval Shipyard has announced plans to hire for about 715 new jobs in Kittery. The shipyard, which is seeking engineers, engineering technicians as well as a variety of skilled tradesmen, will be hiring through September 2015.
Shipyard officials noted the new hiring is based on attrition and the challenges of an increased workload. Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is hiring for over 100 engineering jobs and 25 administrative jobs, with the remainder of the positions spread among shipfitters, plastic fabricators, shipwrights, outside machinists, pipefitters, temporary services, sheet metal, welders, electricians and riggers.
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard handles the Navy’s attack submarine maintenance, modernization and repair.
